For Saffr’n, it was this simple question, “Why should we use skincare filled with chemicals when nature already has everything our skin needs?”
The brand was started in 2023 by three people who shared the same vision. At the heart of their idea was saffron, the golden spice that India has been proud of for centuries. Leading the brand is Dr. Surabhi, a doctor who has spent years in healthcare and built successful hospitals. With her medical background, she ensures that every product is safe, effective, and carefully tested. Along with her are two co-founders. One is a chemical engineer from IIT Bombay and an MBA from IIM Indore. The other is a business professional with global experience, an engineer from NIT Trichy, and an MBA from a top-20 global business school. Together, they combine science, Ayurveda, and business expertise to run the brand.
The idea came after they noticed how most skincare products in the market are full of chemicals. On average, a woman is exposed to more than 100 chemicals every single day through personal care products. Even sunscreens in global markets were found to cause harm. The team felt something different was urgently needed and that’s when they came up with skincare that was natural, clean, and still delivered results.
Of course, the start wasn’t easy. The beauty market in India is huge and already crowded. Getting listed on platforms like Nykaa, Myntra, and Amazon was a big challenge. They had to prove their products worked, and even submit samples for testing. Slowly, step by step, they managed to make their place. Today, Saffr’n products are available not just in India but also in the US, with the UK and UAE coming soon.
The hard work has paid off. Within weeks of its launch, one of their products entered Nykaa’s Top 20 Best-Selling Products. The brand was also recognized as one of the Top 10 Organic Cosmetic Brands and named an Emerging Brand of 2025. But what makes the founders happiest is customer feedback. Many people have shared how their acne reduced, how their skin felt healthier, or even posted before-and-after pictures without being asked. These moments, they say, matter more than any award.
What makes Saffr’n special is its “golden trio”: Ayurveda, saffron, and technology. The brand not only uses natural ingredients but also modern science like nanotechnology and plant stem cell extracts. On their website, people can try a free AI skin analyser to understand their skin better, or chat with an AI assistant for skincare advice. It’s a unique blend of tradition and innovation.
